Alexis King, Jefferson & Gilpin County District Attorney

Office Number: 303-271-6800

Alexis King should support SB21-273 because she supported SB62. She said: “I support this bill [SB62, the pre-cursor to SB273] because we can still argue for those high cash bonds for violent crimes and cases involving the Victims Right’s Act, including domestic violence and sexual assault. We have worked hard to protect our most vulnerable in negotiating this bill. We have a grave responsibility when we put people in custody. If we overincarcerate low-risk low-level folks, we are destabilizing them in the community.”

Michael Dougherty, Boulder County District Attorney

Office Number: 303.441.3700

These are DA Doughery’s words, pledging a commitment to racial justice.

“When I became DA in 2018, my office identified racial justice as a priority. Our office also is partnering with the VERA Institute of Justice on a deep-dive data analysis to identify racial inequities. We were one of three DA’s offices in the entire country selected for this partnership. Furthermore, we work with other organizations on efforts to end mass incarceration and practices that unfairly penalize vulnerable communities and BIPOC.

Brian Mason, Adams & Broomfield County District Attorney

Office Number: (303) 659-7720

Brian Mason was elected as District Attorney to "regain the community's trust after the Elijah McClain case, and rebuild a scandal-plagued DA's office." Yet he is silent on a bill that could have saved Elijah’s life.

“Racism, discrimination and social injustice have plagued our country since its founding. Our criminal justice system has perpetuated racial injustice through the over-incarceration of Black, Hispanic and other people of color. We must urgently address this crisis.”
